As I See It

Admittedly, i havent put up a single post in AGES. So i'm gonna try bringing bloggin back into my schedule. So recently i tried writing poetry.
This one was my first attempt :) and took about 15 mins, so it wont be the best, but i kinda like it :) Anyway, here goes:

Darkness descends upon our world,
Entire halls lined with urns
This world of ours decays in spite,
The flames of hell - ignite.

I sense the world, its ashes fly,
The screams of men who want to die
Engulfing me, this horrific sight,
We suffer in our endless plight.

Fight each other, kill our brothers
Lose all hope to recover
This fragment of our soul long gone
Childhood burnt, our futures torn.

We look for life, a little light,
Look for salvation with all our might,
We dream of heroes, saviors, legends,
Rising from the ashes of our present,

We pray to them, we call them gods,
We offer everything, overlords?
We lie in wait to be freed,
From this prison we decreed.

We forget that hero is in us,
That little voice we fail to trust,
The one that tells us what is right,
No matter how hard will be the night.

Fight, fight, we must fight,
To live in peace, that is our right,
Away from fear, terror, hatred,
Such a life, that we call sacred.

That Infinite Grey Area - Drawing conclusions

Choices. I hate them. Why? Well lets take an example: You're going out to dinner with your family. They say, "Ok, you pick tonight. Which restaurant? We have blah blah blah as the options."
Then you'd think, "Hmm, i love Chinese and so does everyone else. But everyone also loves Italian. I don't want south Indian, but Dad's wanted to have South Indian Food for a week, and Mom wants North Indian."

You notice what happened? The vast choices with their various advantages and disadvantages push you into what i call, "That Infinite Grey Area." The seemingly never ending moments of indecision.

Well, enough of describing "That Infinite Grey Area" and off to the main topic of my post: Drawing Conclusions. I'm stuck with indecisiveness as to exactly how does one differentiate between making conclusions vs. assumptions?

Sure, theres the usual definition: Assumption is baseless, Conclusion is after seeing the facts. But when put into practice, its a LOT harder. For example, recently there were some bomb blasts in Bangalore. Now, there was a discussion on this matter at home and in the interest of political correctness, I'll refrain from using any names. So the discussion began with an exclamation, "I'm sure it was the Muslims." I gotta admit, i was pretty pissed when i heard that. That was stereotyping and quite against my beliefs. Later this turned into a full blown heated discussion after which the final understanding was that that was a stereotypical statement and that it was wrong. A few later, the police found connections to terror groups waging jihad.

So was that statement a terribly worded conclusion? Or was it stereotyping? Could it be both? Or are the two mutually exclusive? At what point does something change from assumption to conclusion or vice versa?

Welcome to That Infinite Grey Area

Aliens :-)

I was reading the paper yesterday and i came across an intriguing article about aliens. It made me wonder the age old question once again: "Are we alone in the universe?"

Well clearly theres plenty of evidence of microbial organisms being able to survive. But sentient beings???? Unlikely, if you ask me. Look at the numbers. It took billions of years for sentient species to emerge on Earth. And even this under exceptional circumstances: the development and unique evolution of micobes into large organisms. Followed by an Asteroid hitting Earth and wiping out the dinosaurs so that more timid and defenseless animals like ape coul evolve into humans. You gotta admit, that happening on another planet is rather unlikely. Forget about actually inventing starships or radio signals that we can actually pick up.
Call me pessimistic, but i doubt we'll ever find sentient life forms :-(

42Everything

Now some of you observant people might have noticed that the URL to my blog is www.42everything.blogspot.com. Some of you would wonder, why 42everything? Some of you might already know.  For those who don't, Heres the answer:

If someone asks you for the Answer to Life, The Universe, and Everything, the correct answer would be 42. Why? Because Thats what it is :)

lol, for the uninitiated, there is an exceptionally funny, kind of insightful, and extremely paradoxical book called The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It is the first in a trilogy of about 5 or 6 books ( i lose count, and yes, its still referred to as a trilogy and not a saga) by the extremely eccentric (atleast in writing, dont know the author personally) Douglas Adams.

So as i plan to write about Everything, i decided on 42everything :)

My Blog

Well, considering this is my first blog post, I'm gonna just cover the basics.

Why did I create a Blog? No idea. Right now, the last thing i need is another way to waste my time. So, i guess thats the main reason why I am gong to end up really writing a lot in the blog. LOL :p

The next question i would ask myself, is "What do i plan to write about?" Answer: Anything and Everything from Music, Movies, Books, to politics, Places, Ideas, etc etc

How often will i write? No idea.
